Silicone Injection Moulding – LSR & HTV Processing

Liquid and high-temperature silicone injection moulding for medical, food, and automotive sealing applications.

Silicone Injection Moulding

Silicone rubber requires fundamentally different processing than thermoplastics: it crosslinks (cures) in a heated mould rather than cooling to solidify. We process both LSR (Liquid Silicone Rubber) via injection moulding and HTV (High-Temperature Vulcanising) silicone via compression and transfer moulding.

Our dedicated silicone production cell features cold-runner moulds, platinum-cured LSR dosing systems, and vacuum-assisted filling for bubble-free parts—critical for medical and food-contact applications.

LSR vs HTV: Choosing the Right Process

LSR injection moulding offers faster cycles (30-90 seconds), tighter tolerances, and better automation for high-volume production. HTV compression moulding suits lower volumes, very large parts, and overmoulding onto temperature-sensitive substrates. We guide clients to the optimal process based on geometry, volume, and budget.

Material Selection

We process medical-grade LSR (Wacker Elastosil LR3003, biocompatible per ISO 10993), food-grade LSR (FDA 21 CFR 177.2600), high-tear LSR for demoulding complex geometries, optical LSR for LED encapsulation, and electrically conductive silicone for EMI shielding applications.

Applications

Medical devices (seals, valves, catheter components, wearable sensors), food processing (gaskets, baking moulds, bottle teats), automotive (turbo hoses, spark plug boots, sensor seals), electronics (keypads, connector seals, LED optics), and consumer products (kitchenware, baby products).

Quality & Certifications

ISO 9001:2015 and ISO 13485 (medical devices) certified. Biocompatibility testing per ISO 10993. FDA 21 CFR compliance for food contact. Full platinum-cure traceability eliminating peroxide contamination risks.

Frequently Asked Questions

What Shore hardness range is available?

LSR: Shore A 5-80. HTV: Shore A 20-90. We also process liquid silicone foams (Shore OO range) for cushioning applications.

Can silicone be overmoulded onto plastic or metal?

Yes, LSR adheres to PA, PBT, and metals with appropriate primers or self-bonding grades. We produce 2K plastic-silicone parts on our multi-shot presses for medical and automotive applications.
