Anti-Limescale Shower Heads: Innovation Meets Sanitary Compliance

Anti-limescale shower heads represent a major innovation in the sanitary sector. At Moulding Injection, we have developed a complete range of shower heads integrating passive and active anti-limescale solutions, all certified ACS (Attestation de Conformite Sanitaire) for drinking water contact.

Anti-Limescale Technology

Our approach combines two complementary strategies: flexible LSR silicone nozzles that allow limescale removal with a simple finger wipe, and a low-roughness internal surface treatment (Ra < 0.4um) that reduces mineral adhesion by 60% compared to standard ABS designs.

For premium models, we integrate a replaceable filter cartridge containing mineral stones (tourmaline, germanium, maifan) and a vitamin C tablet that neutralises chlorine and softens water. Result: softer water for skin and hair, with a measured free chlorine reduction of over 95%.

Materials and Sanitary Compliance

All water-contact materials are ACS certified: Makrolon polycarbonate body (transparent or tinted), platinum-cured LSR silicone nozzles (Shore A 40), EPDM seals. ACS certification involves metal migration testing, Total Organic Carbon (TOC) testing, and organoleptic assessment.

Manufacturing Process

The body is injection moulded in polycarbonate on a 150-ton press with hot runner mould. Silicone nozzles are separately LSR moulded then press-fit assembled. Final assembly integrates the flow regulator, filter screen, and connector, followed by 100% leak and flow rate testing.

Integrated Water Savings

Each model includes a flow regulator limiting consumption to 6, 8, or 10 litres/minute (vs 12-15 L/min standard). Aeration technology maintains the sensation of high flow while reducing actual consumption by 40%. For a family of four, estimated annual savings: 30,000 litres and EUR150 on the hot water bill.

Frequently Asked Questions

How long does a filter cartridge last?

Approximately 2-3 months of normal use, equivalent to 10,000 litres. An integrated colour indicator signals when replacement is needed. Replacement cartridges are available by subscription.

Are the shower heads compatible with existing installations?

Yes, standard 1/2" BSP male connection compatible with all European shower hoses. A 3/4" adapter is available for older installations.
